Lever Pulling Across Planes
The fastest path may not always be the most direct.

This voice note was taken from a pop up audio salon I hosted in 2025.
The area you're trying to fix might not be the area that needs work. Sometimes your content problem is actually a backend confidence issue. Sometimes your revenue plateau needs body movement, not another funnel.
On lever pulling across planes, our favorite defaults, and why "holistic" can often just mean "spiritual bypassing with better branding."

Okay, sigh, because meta fucking sucks.
Apparently only creators now with 1,000 or more followers can go live, and they didn't let us know.
They were just like, you don't need this.
You don't need it.
So, Tara and I will have the conversation, and we will make it accessible in a different location, but we are sorting that out.
I'm super bummed about that, but we shall prevail.
This is why I be like, fuck meta sometimes, to be honest.
They're just doing too much and too little of the wrong things.
You know what I'm saying?
And introducing unsafe features, like the map feature, which, by the way, if you haven't, make sure you go in there and turn off your location.
Why?
I don't want people seeing my location.
That's scary.
That's scary.
Okay, so I did want to come in here today, though.
I didn't want to leave you hanging this week.
And one, this topic, I've tried to write multiple blog posts around it, but there was a lot that just needed to be evoked through the voice and a bit of meandering.
And so I like to call it lever pulling across planes.
Lever pulling across planes.
And the concept is, and this is, not supersedes, but transcends business.
The concept is that the area of growth we're seeking may not always be the area we need to work on to see growth in that area, okay?
And so I'll give examples.
We'll dive into this.
When I say that, what I mean is, so if we are, and I'll say as spiritual entrepreneurs, we are a little bit better about understanding this, sometimes in a little bit of a bypass-y kind of way, but we are better about understanding this.
So for example, if you are not getting, you're largely marketing on Instagram, you're not getting as many clients as you want, the temptation is to post more, to tweak the content, right?
To experiment, to noodle, to maybe go on a different platform.
And none of these are wrong, and it's always a balance, because at some point there is also a level of like, okay, let's look at what we're doing quite tangibly, and are the words we're speaking, are we conveying ourselves effectively, et cetera?
And is this platform actually conducive?
Like there are literally, I don't think you can be successful on every platform.
People say that, and I've kind of said that, but like I was on Blue Sky, for example.
Like it's completely political.
Nobody's interested really in what I'm offering on there.
Anyways.
Or like MySpace, you can still see MySpace, but you're not gonna get clients off MySpace, most likely.
Can't build a thriving business off of it.
So what you're doing when, what we're doing when we are saying, okay, this thing is not working, so I'm gonna continue working directly on this thing, is we are seeing a problem in a specific plane, and we are trying to pull the lever in that plane.
We are seeing a problem on the physical plane, you know, with our content, et cetera, and we're trying to pull that lever.
But sometimes the lever that needs to be pulled is an emotional lever, or a spiritual lever, or a lever in a different part of our business.
So let's go back to content.
So I won't even take it super esoteric yet.
There might be this, you know, I'm not attracting clients through Instagram.
And the temptation again is to, okay, post more, double down, or switch platforms.
But really the lever that needs to be pulled is maybe working on the back end of your business.
Because you are not feeling confident that you can actually serve your clients, and that lack of confidence and clarity is coming through in your communication, right?
Or maybe there is some emotional work that is bubbling up that you need to work on, that you need to tend to and give intention to, that will allow you to see yourself and your clients more clearly.
And maybe your content right now is a reflection of your own process of working things out, which, look, I had a whole year talking about coaching.
If you found me during my coaching, energy clearing stage, that was literally me just externalizing my internal journey and I'm not mad about it.
I'm glad I took that time.
I'm glad I did that.
But those are things that are helpful to be aware of.
And in that season, I needed to divorce my abusive ex.
I needed to get out of that home space and find a safe space for me.
I needed to, there were so many other levers that were desiring to be pulled that eventually released the abundance and clarity.
But my temptation was to double down on the business side.
And what we will often do is pull the lever that feels most comfortable.
So this is less about, on one hand, it is about expanding, broadening our horizons to not just pull the lever on the same plane.
So, if we're dealing with emotional distress, it doesn't actually mean we need to journal a whole bunch more.
Maybe, intuitively, sure.
But maybe there's other levers.
Maybe we need to move our bodies.
I just did a contortionist session with one of my clients.
She's a contortionist, literally the coolest cat on the block.
And I had this amazing emotional release the next day of this nagging wounding.
I couldn't put my finger on it.
My subconscious was not ready to give it up.
And I wasn't gonna force it.
I wasn't gonna interrogate my inner child to give it up.
But the movement and the deep muscle work that I did brought it up naturally.
So what I needed more than journaling, more than talking, more than energy clearing, more than meditation was to move my body in a very precise and deep way.
And so, on one hand, I am talking about look at, when you're experiencing a problem on one plane, look at the other planes and let your intuition and divine guidance show you where the energy wants to flow.
And then also, I'm saying that we have planes that feel most natural to us to activate.
So, maybe we are really great about the spiritual side of things.
Give me a good ritual.
Give me a good silent retreat.
Give me a good out-of-body experience.
Like, tell me that that's the solution to my problems and I can do that.
I can lay on my bed and meditate for two hours.
Or, you know, I can connect with my guides.
I can connect with the earth.
I can connect with God, goddess.
Give me that, you know.
For some of us, it's like, okay, I can journal.
I can talk.
I can dive into my inner sanctum, into my emotions and my inner self.
For others of us, it's like, give me action.
I can do the damn thing.
I can analyze.
I can pull apart, pick apart.
Give me that shit, you know.
And so many other areas of life, right?
And so, yes, one, develop the habit, cultivate the habit of when you're experiencing friction in one area, say, okay, where does the energy actually wanna flow?
Where, what is actually being asked and required of me in this moment?
And even if I can't say, see the direct link, am I willing to follow that path to help this unravel?
And then two, also cultivate the habit of being aware of like, okay, what are my proclivities?
Where do I tend to overemphasize?
Yeah, overemphasize, think of a, I like using synonyms, I do, in threes.
I don't know, it makes my brain happy.
But where you tend to overemphasize and recognize and know this in yourself and stretch yourself to consider other ways, to try and default and be like, let the default be other ways.
So for example, physicality, body is a good one.
I do tend to move.
I like to go on walks, right?
But I used to be very active in college, not as much since having my girls and still really trying to find my stride, right?
And so for me, I do actually feel a lot of resistance around physicality being the first step when I am feeling constricted.
But it is one that I am committing to leaning more into and it will not solve all my problems.
And there is absolutely times when like, I need to pull the lever on the particular plane, you know, and we don't need to create needless complexity.
However, there is much to be mined and much to be said of stretching ourselves to not just go with our default plane that we like to pull.
So that's what I wanna say about that, I believe.
I think that I will touch very briefly on the bypassy part I mentioned.
I think that like, there's a lot of content and conversation around your inner alignment and manifesting or co-creating, however you wanna say it, and like inner belief, et cetera.
And I think that we can get very bypassy with that.
We can say, okay, all I need to do is focus on the spiritual and everything else will fall into place.
But that was actually an early, look, I've made this clear, I'm not Christian.
I don't identify as Christian anymore.
I don't, I'm more, I resonate more with the West African traditions, which, you know, but I was raised in Christianity and I know a lot of you have that reference point, so I'll reference it.
That that was actually an early, perceived to be an early Christian heresy.
And, you know, I love a good heresy.
But it was one that decried the body and said the spirit was all that was good.
And I think sometimes we can get to that place, even as we talk about bodily integration and, you know, holistic, but like holistic, but not my mind, right?
I've noticed the mind gets very villainized.
It's all about the body.
It's all about the spirit.
And like God externally telling me like, and leading me and guiding me, yes.
But we can get a little bypassy when we fail to recognize that all the levers matter.
We're truly holistic, right?
So your mind matters.
So, you know, if you find yourself tending towards like your business feels maybe scattered or there is a goal, you're not, hmm.
I also, I don't love the word goal or like it doesn't land well in my body.
It never quite has.
But if there's like, you're feeling the desire to expand.
You wanna serve more people.
You wanna have more impact and influence as you should.
Okay.
The spiritual baddies, the heart-centered baddies, we need more of you.
Yes, and please.
So if you're desiring that, but the only, the main lever you're pulling is just, is like the spiritual.
Like I'm just praying.
I'm connecting with my guides.
I'm just trusting, but the action, right?
The analysis, the brain, the body.
Like if you are neglecting those other levers, you are in, you are towing the line of potentially bypassing, spiritually bypassing and not acknowledging how these other things affect it.
So that's one thing I just wanted to say, cause I know that's something I really struggle with, with the spiritual community.
Cause I'm like, we talk about holistic, but what we really mean is just spiritual, right?
Cause we villainize the mind.
We don't like talking about like metrics and strategy.
And I think it is because they have been so abused, but like strategy, we all use strategy, right?
It's simply like making a plan, right?
Fundamentally taking, using past experience and best estimates and making plans.
We do that when we pick our clothes for the day, when we make food, right?
When we plan our energy flow.
And honestly, we are the best equipped to do strategy cause we have it all.
We've got our own inner guidance and the wisdom of our womb.
We have a divine external guidance.
And then we have our minds like, yes, we are the original strategist, okay?
So it's nothing to be afraid of or nothing that is separate from your connection with God, you know?
So that's what I got to say about that.
There was a kind of a tangent I want to take about how external, like outside of business, when things are disordered, it impacts us, which is kind of an adjacent topic, but then this will turn into a 30 minute long voice note.
So next time I pop in here, I'll speak specifically on that because like I mentioned, leaving my marriage and moving out of that space were the biggest things I needed.
I'm really passionate about that, really passionate about that.
So I will talk more about that next time, but I hope you all are having a beautiful day.
It is warm.
I'm photosynthesizing.
I wish I could, I was just telling my friend this.
I was like, I wish I could just photosynthesize and not have to worry about food, but may you all be blessed and beautiful.
