Work with More Passion - Not More Force

Work with More Passion - Not More Force

A guide for the sensualist in you.

If you’re anything like me, the thought of grinding just to grind feels soul-smothering. You didn’t come here to hustle, instead, you came to feel, to create, to live in your passion. Not because you have to, but because you want to.

This is your permission slip to infuse your work with sensuous energy, magnetic delight, and wholehearted embodiment, and still get profound results. Despite what much of the world shouts to us, I’d argue passion amplifies output in ways that mindless hustle never could.

Passion Over Burnout

When we burn ourselves out trying to work harder, we deplete the very energy we need to shine. But when we work passionately, we harness a wellspring deep within us - the part that’s lit up by beauty, meaning, desire.

This isn’t about avoiding effort. We do hard things here. But we do them from a place of devotion, not depletion. Instead of pushing against yourself, you lean into work that ignites you.

That’s inseparable from essence of the Easeful Empress: you carve out space for pleasure, creativity, and embodied joy - and let that be the fuel you run on. Some practical shift to ignite passionate productivity are:

Syncing with your Biological and Energetic Rhythms

Just as many women are beginning to align their lives with the phases of their menstrual cycle, your daily energy cycle holds wisdom, too. Your body flows through semi-consistent waves of alertness, rest, and focus throughout the day. When you honor that, your work becomes more sustainable, pleasurable, and potent.

Generally speaking, a typical daily energy cycle includes:

  • A groggy window (the first 60–90 minutes after waking)
  • A morning peak (your first surge of clarity and focus)
  • A midday dip (often post-lunch or early afternoon)
  • An evening peak (a second, lighter wave of energy in the evening)
  • And a natural wind-down into night

If you have time flexibility (even just seasonally, like during summer break), experiment with aligning your workload to match these rhythms. Use your peaks - those pockets of brightness - for the work that demands clarity and power. Visioning, writing, strategy, big decisions.

Use your dips for admin, inbox replies, or even intentional rest. Cluster meetings during lower-energy periods so they don’t steal your best brain.

Play with your schedule day-to-day and week-to-week. Track your rhythms. And remember: the Empress doesn’t force flow - she listens for it.

Finding and Prioritizing Your 20% That Moves The Needle

You’ve likely heard of the Pareto Principle - how 80% of your results come from 20% of your efforts. (If not, check out my article about it).

When you’re spread thin across 100% of the “shoulds,” your energy becomes diffuse. Muddled. Exhausted. But when you identify your 20% (or get closer to it) you can meet it with presence, passion, and precision. You can pour yourself into it knowing that it actually matters.

This is not a one-time decision. It’s a journey. A process of paring away. Of refining. Of being ruthlessly gentle and gently ruthless with what’s staying, what’s going, and what’s getting systematized to run without you.

As you sojourn to greater sharpness in your work, things won’t just feel simpler. They’ll feel more alive. You’ll move with more focus and less friction. You’ll stop asking “how can I do more?” and start asking “how can I deepen into what actually works?”

Creating Your Empress Nook

Your space is more than just functional - it’s sacred. It can be a portal into your Empress Frequency, a soft place where your soul and strategy meet. This isn’t about aesthetics for the sake of it. It’s about cultivating an altar where your body, soul, and spirit all equate work with grounded power and vision-manifesting magic.

When you have a space you look forward to entering - whether it’s a velvet chair by the window, a desk graced with incense and fresh flowers, or simply a clean corner that whispers clarity - you reduce resistance. Friction melts. Delight enters the chat.

Suddenly, your calendar doesn’t feel like a punishment. Your calls don’t feel draining. Your next-level work becomes something you want to meet with presence and pleasure.

Let your workspace love on you. Let it hold you in the frequency of your next season. Let it remind you, every time you sit down: you are building something that is an answer to midnight, tearful prayers.

Devotionally Engaging in Deep Work

Deep work isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing the right things with presence and power.

When you approach your work from a place of devotion - not just duty - you start to see focus as sacred. That’s why reducing distractions and simplifying your attention stream is key.

Context switching (jumping between emails, DMs, planning, client work) drains your energy. Every switch asks your brain to recalibrate, which slows you down and dulls your edge.

So instead, treat your work time like sacred space:
→ Use Do Not Disturb and block focused windows like you would for ritual.
→ Break projects into small, dopamine-friendly tasks you can check off with ease (I use Todoist for this and love it).
→ Give yourself a clean, inspiring environment to do it in (see: Empress Nook).

And don’t forget: work expands to fill the time you give it. Sometimes, having less time makes you more potent. Sacred constraints sharpen your intuition and focus. When you’re clear on what really matters, devotion becomes more easeful.

Rewrite your Relationship with Work

Let this be your invitation: you can have structure and still flow. You can have goals and still feel luscious. You can build momentum without burning yourself out.

This is your era - your Empress Era - where discipline is aligned with pleasure; productivity lives in partnership with play; and your work feels like a glorious rite woven out of passion.

There’s no better time than now to begin creating this as your reality.
